Necklace of Lapis, Azurite & Brass Hosts Antique 14K Gold Vermeil Dancer
- This striking antique, 14k gold-on-silver dancer, was created in Afghanistan. She is full of life and wears a traditional, V-necked, waisted tunic over a skirt. She also sports a headdress over her long hair. Her arms are outstretched as if she was holding the hands of other dancers in a circle. She is 2 ¼” high (5.6cm), with her arms outstretched, 2” wide (5cm) x 4mm deep.
- Her hands touch vintage, flat brass discs, (as if they were cymbal instruments) which continue throughout the necklace, along with brass melon beads (13mm).
- Vibrant blue lapis circles beads (12mm) and cubes (6mm) form the bulk of the necklace. And these are contrasted with rough-cut, blue and turquoise azurite/chrysocolla nuggets, (11mm) creating a rhythmic, vibrant design. Although there is brass, stone and a figure, the necklace is quite light to wear, as well as striking. A conversation piece around your neck.
- I have used a handmade 14k gold vermeil toggle clasp. Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.
- The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour coordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.
