Chic Fluorite Disc on Necklace of Cultured Freshwater Pearls & Amethyst
- This is an easy necklace to slip on with just about anything.
- The natural, purple fluorite Bi disc at 1 inch across (2.5 cm) and 6.5 mm deep, compliments the natural grey, baroque cultured, freshwater pearls (9.8 mm).
- An oval purple fluorite bread (11 mm x 16 mm) surmounts the disc.
- Natural amethyst nuggets (8 mm) are interspersed among the pearls.
- The Bi disc is a symbol of harmony and long life. But it can also be an emblem for the universal source of energy, known as “Chi”.
- Amethyst is the birthstone for February
- Fluorite naturally occurs in a multitude of colours, from purple, green and yellow to blue and pink; some colours are quite intense and almost electric. These colour variations are caused by various impurities in the mineral. Fluorite is made up of calcium fluoride and has a transparent appearance.
- I have then knotted the silk/polyester cord with a fine, traditional Chinese “flat knot’. This is not only a classical Chinese technique, but it lightens the necklace and makes it quite comfortable to wear. It also sets off the design.
- I have used a silver toggle clasp. Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.
- The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor
- The necklace is 16 inches long (40.5 cm) with a1 ¾ inch pendant drop (4.5 cm).
