  • This is quite a rich combination. It is always flattering and quite unforgettable. The colour mix of lustrous carnelian, acid green peridot and 18K yellow gold, makes the necklace sing.

  • There are three delightful, vintage,18K gold on silver panels inlaid with cabochons of carnelian. The central panel has a wider, oval cabochon of carnelian, and it has two tiny turquoise, and two tiny dark coral beads, set into the panel. The two outer panels, with their round carnelian cabochons, are set with four tiny carnelians on each corner of the panels. The panels have been etched and coiled in their delicate construction. They are 2.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm high and 8 mm deep.

  • There are two, (now rare) antique, etched 18K gold on hard wax beads (13.5 mm), also made in Afghanistan, using the ancient techniques, learned from the Greeks who occupied Afghanistan in 330 BC.

  • The necklace itself is composed of rough-cut, natural, faceted peridot nuggets (12 mm).

  • The clasp is a 14K gold toggle clasp. I prefer using toggle clasps because they are easy to use and quite secure. My silver name label is attached to at the clasp.

  • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

  • Length 43 cm.
