  • I know this is a necklace that will be worn until the cows come home. It’s one of those necklaces that you put on and you say “yes” to yourself….that will certainly do.

  • Because it’s a torsade, a thick band of pearls that graces the neck, it is flattering. But adding the burnt jade pendant attached by smoky quartz and labradorite beads, makes the effect quite stunning.

  • The jade pendant, which is 5 cm across is a dark brown colour and carved like a Chinese screen of lattice work. Because it is so dark a brown, it works with either brown or black.

  • It has been attached by four strands of labradorite beads (3.5 mm) and four strands of smoky quartz beads (4.5 mm).

  • These hang on eleven strands of natural, cultured freshwater pearls in either the rice shape (5.8 mm) or tiny, round-ish baroque pearls at 3.8 mm.

  • These all feed into two antique, silver beads made in Afghanistan, using their ancient technique of taking silver and rolling it over hardened resin or wax. The silver has a lovely warmth about it, but they are also not perfect, as there are slight dents on the beads. But this indicates their wear and tear age and gives character.

  • A silver toggle clasp has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp. The clasp has also been made by the Karen hill tribes, of twisted silver wires to create a rope design.

  • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

  • Length 43 cm with a 5 cm pendant drop.
