Antique Tibetan Resin beads, Sterling Silver, Vintage Tibetan Glass

  • Without hesitation, this is a “statement” necklace.

  • It is made up of richly translucent, antique Tibetan, red resin beads. The old technique in Tibet, mixed resin with amber dust to create these wonderful, large beads, usually used for prayers, although also enjoyed as personal adornment. Pure amber in itself was enormously expensive.

  • The red resin pendant is a rather fat Bi disc, symbol of long life and harmony. It is 1 ½ inch in diameter (4 cm), 24 mm deep.

  • It hangs on tiny, 3mm, etched Karen hill tribe sterling silver beads, on a necklace that is comprised of antique, traditional, handmade, sterling silver applied onto hardened resin beads (24 mm), made in Afghanistan. These are now becoming rare beads.

  • These Afghan silver beads also border more antique, Tibetan, smaller, red resin disc beads (19 mm).

  • Two wonderful, large, antique, Tibetan, lustrous red resin cylinder beads are 1 ½ inches long (4 cm), 1 inch wide (2.5 cm) and 31 mm deep.

  • Two large silver wave discs separate the large cylinders from the deep red, vintage,Tibetan, mat glass beads (24 mm).

  • A handmade, sterling silver toggle clasp, has been used because toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

  • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

  • The necklace is 16 ½ inches long (42 cm) with a 1 ½ inch pendant drop (4 cm).
