Vintage Jades, Amber, Sterling Silver on Black Silk Chain

  • Three vintage jade pendants in contrasting colours of tan and black are complemented by amber and woven sterling silver beads.

  • A vintage brown nephrite jade Bi disc (symbol of harmony) is etched decoratively, while in the centre of the disc, sits a few lotus leaves, emblems of purity. The pendant is 1 ¾ inches across (4.5 cm) and 9 mm deep).

  • The middle jade pieces, a black jade knot, is an emblem of the eternal knot that leads to happiness. It is 1 ½ inches (4 cm) across and 4 mm deep.

  • The last jade piece is a tan, carved butterfly, a symbol of beauty, affection, and long life. It is 1 ½ inches across (4 cm) and 4 mm deep.

  • Two handmade, fair trade silver beads (12.5 mm) have been wonderfully woven, crafted by the Karen hill tribes of Thailand.

  • An amber nugget is 27 mm long.

  • A copal nugget is 19 mm long. Copal is like amber (about 40 million years old) but it is only about 50,000 years old.

  • A fine, handmade black silk/polyester chain hosts my silver label and supports all the elements.

  • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with its own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

  • The necklace is 19 inches long (48 cm) which includes a 6 ½ inch pendant drop (16.5 cm).
