  • Softly dramatic this necklace makes an elegant statement.  The combination of turquoise, white pearls and aquamarine make it a flattering necklace, especially at night.

  • All the stones are natural.

  • The main pendant is made in Jaipur, India, and consists of sleeping beauty turquoise cabochon, blue topaz and baroque freshwater pearls set in sterling silver. The pendant is just over 2 inches long (5 cm) and 1¾ inches  (2 cm) wide.

  • The necklace itself consists of a pattern of carved sleeping beauty turquoise (9.9 mm) next to buttons of white cultured freshwater pearls (7.9 mm), followed by faceted nuggets of aquamarine (10 mm, but these vary in size).

  • Aquamarine is the birthstone of March.

  • The gemstone aquamarine is a blue/green member of the Beryl family (while emerald is a green member). Its name comes from the Latin word aqua, meaning water of the sea, as the crystal stone resembles the sparkling colour of water in the Mediterranean.

  • This gemstone is mined mainly in Brazil, but can also be found in Nigeria, Madagascar, Pakistan and Mozambique.

  • Turquoise is the birthstone for December.

  • Mined from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Arizona, it has an exceptional blue shade that is quite vibrant. The mountain that houses the mine looks like a sleeping woman.

  • I have used a silver toggle clasp.  Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

  • The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with it's own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

  • The necklace is 19 ½ inches (50 cm) long. With a 2 inch pendant drop (5 cm).
